How to choose your ping-pong table ?

Which table for which use?

Choosing between different types of tables is not always easy. And yet, it’s not that complicated. You simply need to ask the right questions. Let us guide you to ensure you make the right choice.

There are tables for various purposes. We can divide them into three categories: leisure use, club use (indoor facilities), and table tennis in public spaces such as parks, campsites, or other collective areas. We are going to help you choose a leisure table here, as this type of table meets the vast majority of needs. If this is not what you are looking for, we invite you to discover our competition tables here and our tables for collective use here.

Are you planning to play outdoors or only indoors?

Indoors, outdoors, or both? Indoor and outdoor tables are named as such because their designs are different. The main difference lies in the material of the playing surface. Indoor tables have a chipboard top, while the top of outdoor tables is made of solid laminate, also known as HPL (High Pressure Laminate).

Indoor tables are sensitive to impacts and weather conditions and must not be used outdoors, or only with very strict precautions. Outdoor tables are much more resistant and can be used both indoors and outdoors. They are even recommended for indoor use, for example, for users who are less careful with the equipment.

Why choose an outdoor table?

To play table tennis outdoors, of course, but not just for that. Outdoor tables are designed to withstand both weather conditions and impacts, making them much more durable. The solid laminate used for the playing surface is particularly resistant. Rain, snow, and even hits from rackets will not affect the quality in any way. The other materials used in the design of these tables, such as the corrosion-resistant treated steel and even the smallest components, are also ultra-durable.

It is no coincidence that Cornilleau guarantees its outdoor tables for 10 years and that they are chosen by nearly 90% of table tennis players. Furthermore, these tables are equipped with large double wheels, allowing them to be moved effortlessly over a wide variety of terrains. The legs are also designed to adapt to any type of ground, ensuring the table always remains stable.

OUR OUTDOOR TABLES

The advantages of an indoor table

Indoor table tennis tables, with their chipboard tops, offer excellent rebound quality at a lower price. They must be used exclusively in areas sheltered from weather conditions. Sunlight, extreme heat, and especially humidity can cause the playing surface to peel or even warp, which is very detrimental to the ball's bounce. Indoor tables are also much more fragile: a hit from a racket on the tabletop will leave a mark immediately. For these reasons, many players choose an outdoor table even for indoor use. Indoor tables come with a 3-year guarantee (compared to 10 years for outdoor tables).

Criteria for choosing a table tennis table

Table tennis is a universal sport, accessible to everyone. As a result, there are many different profiles when it comes to choosing a table. However, there are several common characteristics that define Cornilleau tables: durability, safety, ergonomics, and playing quality. Cornilleau tables are manufactured in France, in Bonneuil-les-Eaux (Oise), in the exact same place where they are designed, tested, and prototyped by our Research & Development department. This mastery of every aspect of production allows for an impeccable level of quality.
